We aim to provide you with the best quality dental service in a caring, friendly environment, by dedicated dental professionals

Professional Registration

The General Dental Council

The General Dental Council (GDC) is a UK-wide statutory regulator of all members of the dental team from dentists to nurses and hygienists. Their purpose is to promote, protect and maintain patient health,  safety and well-being. They maintain public confidence in dental professionals. They hold a register of qualified dental professionals, and promote and maintain the professional standards and conduct of these professionals.

All the members of the PURE Dental team are fully registered with the GDC.

There are nine principles registered dental professionals must keep to at all times.

As a GDC registrant we must:

  1. Put patients’ interests first
  2. Communicate effectively with patients
  3. Obtain valid consent
  4. Maintain and protect patients’ information
  5. Have a clear and effective complaints procedure
  6. Work with colleagues in a way that is in patients’ best interests
  7. Maintain, develop and work within your professional knowledge and skills
  8. Raise concerns if patients are at risk
  9. Make sure your personal behaviour maintains patients’ confidence in you and the dental profession

There are additional guidance documents which can be found on the GDC website at www.gdc-uk.org if you wish to read any more about these principles.

The Care Quality Commission

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is an independant regulator of health and social care in England. They make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and we encourage care services to improve.

As part of the regulation of healthcare providers the CQC seek to answer five key lines of enquiry:

  1. is it safe?
  2. is it effective?
  3. is it caring?
  4. is it responsive?
  5. is it well-led?

Just after our new prinicipals, Neil and Zareen, took over the practices, PURE Dental York Strensall had a CQC inspection and we are happy to report that there were no concerns in all five key lines of enquiry.

If you would like to read more about this inspection please see the full report on the CQC website at www.cqc.org.uk
