Remote orthodontic treatment concern

Posted on the 6th of March 2020 in General News

We are aware of a number of organisations who are now offering remote dental services, such as ‘direct -to-consumer orthodontics’.

We are concerned about this for the following reasons:

  1. Potential risk of harm to patients from unregulated providers.
  2. No face-to-face contact between patient and clinician so underlying oral health conditions could be missed.

Orthodontic treatment is a sub-speciality of dentistry primarily concerned with disturbances in the positioning of teeth and the jaws that support them.

If any of our patients would like further advice or have any concerns about orthodontic treatment please contact the practice.

We are fortunate to work alongside Mr Hock Hoe Goh (FDS (Orth), RCS, MOrth, FDS,BDS) who is a local consultant orthodontist and can provide a full scope of orthodontic treatment here at PURE Dental York.
